Pick the Perfect Campervan Awnings and Rails
Transform your campervan into a camping heaven with campervan awnings and rails
Once you’ve arrived at the campsite, you’ll want to settle in as quickly as possible. While you canenjoy your time with just your campervan and the interior, during warmer months, it’s nice to stretch your legs a bit. That’s where campervan awnings and rails come in.
By opening up the side of the van, you can dramatically increase the amount of space you have to use by installing a rail and a tent into the side of the vehicle. When mixed with a pop top roof extender, you’ll be surprised just how much space you have when you’re settling into your location.
Which awnings and rails are right for you?
As with anything involving camper vans, you get what you’re willing to pay for. The cheapest rails and awnings can be as simple as a sheet of canvas with two metal legs attached, which can be ideal if you only need a bit of extra space during a summer getaway.
Alternatively, you can also add a large awning attachment, which doubles or even triples the space available by adding a large tent to the side of your camper van. It’s an option ideal for longer trips, more people, or weather that might not be as friendly as you’d like.
What should I look for in awnings and railings?
While it can be tempting to focus solely on cost and decide to pick up a cheap rail, it’s best to get something you know is going to be easy to use, maintain and set up when needed, especially if you’re expecting difficult weather!
Of course, space and design are important to consider, too. If you have multiple people coming with you on your trip, a large awning able to sleep a few people may be a consideration, whereas if it’s just one or two people, the extra space might be unnecessary.
If you need some pointers on which would be suitable for your needs or regular destinations, the Sherwood Campers team are ready to help. Just get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.
